About Kathleen

Born in Canberra and having grown up in rural NSW, Kathleen has always had a desire to be by the sea and she wasted no time in relocating to Sydney and the Northern Beaches.

After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, with a focus on illustration, Kathleen worked as a Graphic Designer for many years in both Australia and the UK, in publishing and in studio environments. Looking for a change she then completed a Diploma in Textile Design and Printing at East Sydney TAFE which nurtured her love of drawing, design and pattern and the beauty of the natural world.

Kathleen has travelled extensively abroad and has enjoyed experiencing a diversity of cultures and art, architecture and people. This has been a significant influence on her work to date with textiles and decoration featuring in her early portraiture. Many of her pieces reflect a love of pattern, repetition and a kind of organic geometry. Often Kathleen’s work incorporates bold saturated colours, patina-like textures, the use of blues and greens are characteristic in her work. Her love of nature and the ocean is evident.

With a strong interest in preserving nature, Kathleen is continuing her art journey by further exploring landscapes and seascapes.

Kathleen recently became a finalist in the 9 x 5 Landscape Art Prize 2024 and has an available work "Quiet Stroll"
